From Your Name@21:1/5 to All on Tue Dec 31 08:54:43 2024

The article keeps saying "three days", but Apple's Twitter / X post
    actually only says "Jan 4-5".

Apple TV+ Will Be Free to Stream for Three Days
    -----------------------------------------------
Tech giant promotes free worldwide access to original titles
including 'Severance,' 'Shrinking,' 'Ted Lasso,' 'The Morning
    Show' and more.

Apple is hoping those who don't subscribe to Apple TV+ will
ring in 2025 by binge-watching some of its original TV shows
and movies - free for anyone with an Apple ID for three days.

The full Apple TV+ catalog will be free to stream to users
worldwide the first weekend of the year (from Friday, Jan. 3,
to Sunday, Jan. 5), on on any device where the streaming
service is available. All you need is an Apple ID and password
to sign in for the free two-day weekend promotional period.

The free promo is, of course, intended to drive people to sign
up for Apple TV+ at the regular price: $9.99/month (or
$99.99/year) in the U.S. Apple does not publicly disclose how
many subscribers it has for Apple TV+, which it launched in
    November 2019.

Apple touted a range of TV series available on the streaming
service, including "Severance" (which returns for Season 2 on
Jan. 17), the Emmy-winning "Ted Lasso" and "The Morning Show,"
and others including "Silo," "Shrinking," "Bad Sisters,"
"Slow Horses," "Disclaimer" and "Presumed Innocent." It also
suggested users can "get your mind blown by celebrated sci-fi
series" like "Dark Matter," "For All Mankind" and "Foundation."

In addition, the Apple TV+ lineup includes family movies like
"Fly Me to the Moon," starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing
Tatum, and "The Family Plan," starring Mark Wahlberg and
Michelle Monaghan; plus action-comedy "Wolfs" starring George
Clooney and Brad Pitt, and "The Instigators" starring Matt
    Damon and Casey Affleck.

Even at the end of the video on that Apple webpage it says "January
4-5". Maybe some people are getting confused *if* the legalese small
print says something like "midnight Friday to midnight Sunday", but
that really just means Saturday and Sunday.

Sorry, I don't know about Silo season 2. I haven't even started season
1 yet (it is on the very long and ever-growing list to try).

The article on Apple's website says Friday through Sunday. Thanks! Has >>>> season 2 of Silo fully unspooled yet?

    https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2024/12/get-a-free-all-access-pass-
    to-apple-tv-the-first-weekend-of-2025/

Looks like it will be two to three weeks before the season is ended as
it's only on episode 7 of season 2.

Thanks, Shawn. I won't hurry to catch it then if it hasn't been
    released in full.

Anyone know why streamers do this weekly-dribble crap? I can't imagine
any viewer saying, "Oh good, I have to put the plot away for a week..."

So that the hardcore fans of a show who must see each episode the
instant it is released have to pay more ... they pay for X weeks,
rather than just one week to binge watch all the episodes.

Of course, it's only the ADHD youngster generation who are worried. Us
oldies are well used to having new episodes broadcast only once per
    week. :-p
(In fact, with the wacky broadcast method used in the USA, there often
wasn't even a new episodes every week either.)

Even at the end of the video on that Apple webpage it says "January
4-5". Maybe some people are getting confused *if* the legalese small
print says something like "midnight Friday to midnight Sunday", but that really just means Saturday and Sunday.

    Sorry, I don't know about Silo season 2. I haven't even started season 1
yet (it is on the very long and ever-growing list to try).

Silo S2 is airing now, I think weekly, and maybe Arthur is watching it too?
