I just watched the new movie "Don't Look Up" on Netflix. With
Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill,
etc. The movie is the theater of the absurd. Two astronomers
find out that a comet is going to hit the Earth in seven month
and people spend the entire seven months arguing about whether
the comet is real or not. Just the opposite of the "Deep
Impact" movie".
https://www.netflix.com/title/81252357
Warning: the ending is NC-17 (full frontal nudity).

Why would mere nudity rate a NC-17 (equivalent to an X rating), rather than >just an R rating?

Maybe it's "classy" nudity?

Looks like those people who claimed that Trump killed parody
were correct.
Despite having one of Hollywood's greatest ever hams playing the
president, this is an admirable movie. Why? Because it takes the
offensive against the stupid and the self-interested,
the
principals who have bullied the world into its current mess.
Stupid people like Lynn McGuire. Here's a film about our
planets' extinction and she thinks that "warning" people about a
little satirical nudity is important.

That, and the cast list, was exactly what I thought it sounded like it
would be when Netflix tried to get me to watch it and I passed.

I just watched as much as I could for a focus groupo survey.
You are correct on both accounts.
They didn't recompensate me NEARLY enough.
Making matters worse, I had the dubious pleasure of watching
DiCaprio's "making of" featuratette in which he confirmed that,
yes, it was about "global warming" for us rubes, err, skeptics.

I should have taken you up on the offer to live-snark it.
For morbid curiosity, I Googled it to see how it ends. If memory serves,
it says they discover the comet is made of gold and the evil rich people
in the world want to mine it and get wealthier. Until the impact, people
are still squabbling about the comet about to hit Earth and Leo dies a
martyr while a bunch of evil rich people escape in space ark.

A local Republican political candidate, Brandon Skipper, is taking
advantage of that. Political signs for him have "Let's Go"
"scrawled" diagonally in front of his first name. :)
two) it would reduce gold to being valueless which
would be fine because there’s lots of practical applications
for gold.

That is either the stupidest thing he could do, or the smartest. Or,
quite possibly, both at the same time.
