Does this signal a fundamental shift in Hollywood? Or is it evidence of something else?

She’s not under contract anymore so if she doesn’t keep her mouth shut, she might not work again. Also, Nissan seems to have gotten rid of her as well.

    I had not considered that.

I know that she like a lot of other marvel actors got a three picture
contract when they thought they were going to be big and then psychotic talentless imbeciles like Larson crashed and burned. Marvel realized they
had a loophole because the contracts didn’t specify the actor had to be the lead in the picture so even something like her showing up in the last five minutes of avengers and getting her face beat in counted, as well as
    satisfying the audience.

    So she got:
    Captain Marvel
    Avengers Endgame
An uncredited cameo or something I don’t even remember in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Then they shoehorned her into the Ms. Marvel TV show which I seem to recall
her complaining about bitterly (as did I)
And then The Marvels which she also complained about bitterly.

But no matter how you do the math she’s had her three strikes

Also, Nissan seems to have gotten rid of her as well.

    DON'T JINX IT!!

Nissan only seems to be trying to sell cars to the diverse now.

Yeah, there is no talk that I've heard of her ever appearing in the MCU
again. Not even in the upcoming Avengers flick.

Also, Nissan seems to have gotten rid of her as well.

Nissan is likely going away - they're merging with Honda, and I can't
imagine that the final name of the combined entity won't be "Honda".

Yeah, there is no talk that I've heard of her ever appearing in the MCU again. Not even in the upcoming Avengers flick.

In point of fact, IMDb doesn’t list anything upcoming for her ever again.
She has some sort of unreleased failed spy project last year, but her
screen career seems to have actually effectively ended in 2023.

Also, Nissan seems to have gotten rid of her as well.

At least she's learned to shut her yap. People want actors not
    activists in their movies.
