I don't know that Deadpool is particularly "original" ... it's a bit of
a rip-off of Wolverine meets Daredevil, and just yet another
"superhero" movie (as if there weren't enough already). Best you can
say is that at least it's not a crappy reboot, as far as I know.
Maybe a reboot if you consider the version in the Wolverine movie? Heard there was a great difference.
That's how this movie came to be made. RR wanted to play Deadpool
because he's a fan. So they cast him in the Wolverine flick and totally
botched it. He lobbied to be allowed to make a movie to redeem the
character in a way true to the comic version and this is the result.
BTW, a caveat regarding content: this movie came by its R rating
honestly, so much so that I daresay it nudges right up against NC17
country in one or two scenes. And I don't mean the violence, which is
very graphic, but in an almost cartoonish way. So much so that if I had
a 12-y/o who had been exposed to some video game violence already and
that was the only reason for this movie's rating I'd probably take him.
But this is for sex: graphic discussions thereof, somewhat less graphic
scenes (though not by much), and some brief full frontal nudity, so if
you are any kind of responsible adult DO NOT take anyone to see this
that you would be embarrassed to sit by under those circumstances.
Depending on how your family does things, that could be a kid/grankid/niece/nephew, and at the opposite end of the spectrum your
own parents and/or grandparents. It's not QUITE like watching porn, but
it's close in a couple of places.
