8950 to a 6KG6 one could substitute a 6KD6 for the 6KG6.

Can someone clarify please?

The 6KD6 tube is of a 12-contact base the same as the 8950 tube. The only difference is that in the 6KD6 tube the leg 6 is free without connection while in the 8950 tube it is attached to the leg 2 which is the cathode connection

I'm kinda a sweep tube amp man, maybe not an expert, but I have done a lot of research. The 8950 is nothing but a 12v filament version of the 6v filament 6lf6 (and family) tube. There are a few drop in substitutes for the 6lf6 and family and a few more
that are very close, but maybe a grid is connected to only 1 pin, not 2 pins, or vice versa, etc. Other than the filament voltage, the 8950 is a direct drop in for the 6lf6 tubes.
The M-2057 is the military or heavy duty or ruggedized verion of the 8950. It is the same tube and pinout, but it is bigger and heavier. Since it is physically and electrically bigger, it is not quite a direct drop in. It does use the same 12v filament
for one, but it draws a bit more filament current than the 8950. The capacitances would be somewhat off from an 8950 too. It will take more abuse, take more voltage and put out more than an 8950 but it is somewhat different.
