I still exist - but I retired a while ago
He did sign off as Old Guy
Time flies when... I passed 80 a while ago, and
that's obviously not in kilometers :-)

Don't put the idea into my head that 80 is old.
I turn 72 in a few months, and that is uncomfortably
close to 80...

Actually, I started using the "Old guy" nym about 50 years
ago after a bunch of (college) student interns started
using it to refer to me at (then) work.
I turn 72 in a few months, and that is uncomfortably
close to 80...
I could reference Frank Sinatra (song "Young At Heart"),
but that dates me as well. It's all relative - when I
was in my 40's, the (then) retirement age of 65 seemed
horrible, much less the ancient age of 70. If you look
at Individual Retirement Accounts and the IRS rule that
you have to cash in (and pay tax on) an age scheduled
portion each year, the IRS suggests I'm likely to stick
around for another ~20 years. At age 71, they're
expecting you to be paying taxes for another ~26 years
(isn't THAT a wonderful reason to keep yourself in good
health). ;-} I was a smoker from age 12 to 55, but
still ride my 10-speed bike to the grocery store about
a mile away (scaring the customers because I'm huffing
and puffing for a minute after I arrive) but it keeps
the doctors off my back.

You haven't got to the uncomfortable side of
near 80, 83 is much less comfortable.
Well you have been thusly informed...

It would appear that I have gatecrashed the tranquility of
your retirement, Moe.
I can offer no excuse. Curiosity is a dreadful affliction :-)
My mother blew past her 80s without a problem (she did
get more cranky by 95). Dad didn't see a doctor unless he
was really sick, and therefore died at 53 of undiagnosed
(and thus, unmanaged) hypertension.
license at age 33, so someone had been looking me over
(annual aviation medical) for quite a while. Other than
the eyesight (ARMD), my biggest problem is arthritis and
muscle strains, but that's controllable and a quick ride
around the block (1/4 to 3.5 miles depending on what I
feel up to) helps keeping me loose enough.

Yes My Father went the same way, same age.
He had other issues from being a POW in Changi and then
Burma and Hellfire Pass
I tend to be rather stupidly sedentary. I have a "Take a
Break" timer running in the computer which I am prone to
ignore and I notice the weight creeping up.
