From faeychild@2:250/1 to All on Sat Dec 14 06:44:07 2024

    Motherboard Gigabyte B250M-D3H
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz
    Yes It's getting on

Today my flash ram failed to detect in USB 3 socket; worked fine in USB 2

It's not the socket (blue) trashed. I use an extension lead and wear
    that out.

This prompted some head scratching and dredging up some CL stuff from
    the old days. I remembered

    faeychild@unimatrix ~]$ dmesg | grep -i usb2
    [ 1.322889] usb usb2: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b,
    idProduct=0003, bcdDevice= 6.06
    [ 1.322892] usb usb2: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=2, SerialNumber=1
[ 1.324194] usb usb2: Product: xHCI Host Controller
    [ 1.324933] usb usb2: Manufacturer: Linux 6.6.61-desktop-1.mga9 xhci-hcd
    [ 1.325604] usb usb2: SerialNumber: 0000:00:14.0

    and

    [faeychild@unimatrix ~]$ dmesg | grep -i usb3
    [faeychild@unimatrix ~]$

I took the box outside and blew all the dust out. Checked that all the
plug were seated. Reassembled it and booted up to find the USB 3 now working

I don't know if I have a problem or not
The only "fail" listing in the kernel messages is ndmonitor. I am not running raid

dmesg output is the same. no usb3 mentioned

    I was fearing motherboard problens

    Fun afternoon
    Regards
