  • random tagline generator, utf-8 version

    Hey All!

    It seems to be working. I might even be so bold to suggest it is the best Fidonet has ever seen. Also it should work fine in termux which means even a lowly smart device should be able to replicate the below. I did test utf-8 on the tablet before the battery died.

    So far I only have the old to modern english translations for Anglo-Saxon writings of that time. I am not aware of old english writings ever being translated to middle english and transcribed anywhere. To have all three together in a tagline would be a desirable quality methinks.

    That seems to be the consensus from what I see online. Although one English professor did mention a possibility. But that is a philosophical work written in Latin origin, later translated into Old English, and later still into Middle English, but I'd say likely not directly from Old to Middle English.

    Politics. I am guessing that the Normans weren't too keen on preserving Anglo-Saxon culture. The closest I could find to a document containing both old and middle english is the "Peterborough Chronicle". It is all old english except for the last entry which is in an early form of middle english. Not quite what we're looking for but I think it helps to explain the lack of translations of old english works to middle english.
