Stop using the EMX version of HPT with JAM.

Watcom binaries works better. You can try mine: https://www.fidonet.fi/huskyos2/

Then why did ID Software choose DJGPP for Quake instead of Watcom later on?

You can try to fix (or delete) your jam base which has obviously been broken all the time, download the latest golded from http://download.golded.org/os2/, and then finally start using squish instead of jam. :)

I use the same GED/2 under the same OS/2, but Tosser under FE/2 and Jam... so far no problems ;-)

I have never used Squish before... what should I be aware of? How do I define the areas in HPT?

Back in 2004 there was a hptsqfix util. If there is one today too then you could backup the effected jam files and give it a try.

Oh, wait. First check if fastecho/2 can do that job too.

Correct, no JAM problems with Fastecho, ever. :)

Just replace "-b jam" with "-b squish".
