My internet service is down for several days waiting on AT&T tech to come fix.

I am waiting 10 days for them to show up, AT&T doesn't care about their DSL and landline users they want them to upgrade to the latest and greatest.

(Massively paraphrased from someone else...)
AT&T isn't great with their latest and greatest, either. My next-door
neighbor has AT&T Fiber, and because of our street layout, he has a
long run from the utility pole to his house. There's quite a bit of
slack in the line, which means once a year a passing moving truck takes
his fiber down.
He calls AT&T, and within their 4 hour reponse window, a guy with an
AT&T fleet subcompact car comes out, says "Yep, your fiber's cut, we
need to roll a truck". They've stopped the response clock with the guy
in the car. 4-5 days later, a truck rolls and fixes the fiber.
Their "permanent" fix was to throw the fiber over the comcast cable
line on the pole to give it a little more height. That'll work until
the fiber degrades from rubbing against the Comcast wire.
I've wanted to get AT&T fiber, as I need the upload speeds and lack of
bandwidth cap, but I'm concerned about the run to my house. I think I
might be OK if they can be convinced to do less than the absolute
minimum to get the fiber to my house.
I'm not confident of that.

Are all ports open in AT&T fiber? residential or business?
I'm thinking of trying Earthlink fiber but they can only get me 12mbps
or 24mbps where I'm at, right now I'm at 3Mbps DSL with AT&T.
