Is that why there is so little Lee Lofaso drivel?
Is that why there is so little Lee Lofaso drivel?
It also affects David Rance...
Can someone please try to find out what the above system is all about? Unfortunately, with the new EU rules, whois does no longer work here.

I don't know (and don't care) if it's deliberate or by accident,
all I want is for it to stop.

Can't you block that ip in your firewall

In the meantime my news server temporarily listens to port 4119
rather
than the standard 119.

I think that Bjorn is saying that the router/firewall that has that IP address is blocking NNTP ports from his server

I thought so too at first, but that doesn't make sense with the rest
of his message, because then he could simply stop making connections
to that server, and there wouldn't be a problem anymore...

If that gets blocked as well, you know somebody in Fidonet does not like you.
Freedom of speech, right?

I think that this host could be a TOR exit router, in this case you
can't do anything to solve your problem. :(

Now that's an idea. Thanks.
He has full access via his point-address here ...
A smartphone or a laptop with a mail client is all the software you
need nowadays to get full access to Fidonet. No nodelist, no mail
tosser or scanner, no special FTN editor, no nothing like that. Just
a standard computer and internet access.

Why would a tor exit node block nntp / port 119?
It is also doesn't look like it is a tor node:
https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#search/190.2.141.250
Why would a tor exit node block nntp / port 119?
I don't know. :)
I wonder if it is a good idea to widely advertise that.
If the horse club is losing members, one can try to save it by inviting the bikers in. One may save the club that way, but it won't be a horse club any more.
Is that what we want? Do we want Fidonet to become a copy of UseNet?
Why would a tor exit node block nntp / port 119?I don't know. :)
I would not be surprized at all if someone were actually attempting at silencing the troll.
Exactly! Especially when a new potential member turns up on a horse looking for relief and freedom and sick to the back teeth of biking -
and finds it full of bikers.

$ geoiplookup 190.2.141.250
GeoIP Country Edition: CW, Curacao
GeoIP City Edition, Rev 1: CW, 00, N/A, Willemstad, N/A, 12.100000, -68.916702, 0, 0 GeoIP ASNum Edition: AS23541 Scarlet B.V.
The Ip address in hosted in Willemstad on Curacao, Curacao is one of the Dutch Antilles. As far as I know the Caribian is Lanic territory.
Moreover usenet is dying.
I came back in fidonet because I was looking at quality messages
I found lot of great messages, lot of help, wonderful and helpful people, new foreign friends and a bunch of Italian ex sysops and points that want with me to rebuild fidonet in Italy. :)I came back in fidonet because I was looking at quality messagesGod luck, I hope you find one ...
Is Fidonet still alive or is it past dead? More like undead ...

gerard van der land is long gone from fidonet... probably 25 or 30 yearsgone,
by now...
2:283/555 gerard van.der.land from Barneveld 1995.01.27 -
1996.08.30
But GEcho is still running fine.
I still get a comprehensive report from whois.
geoiplookup tells me the ip address is hosted in Willemstad Curaccao, one of the Dutch Antilles. Whois tells me the provider is vested in the Netherlands.

Now these days that is not hard thing to do.

Any particular reason why you're responding to a near 2yr old message?
