Apparently, OXP doesn't seem to handle multi-initial quoting very well.
:(
For example, some names such as Michael
Names with 3 or more initials such as "Wilfred van Velzen", or "Rick van Beek" might show up in originating messages like this:
WvV> some quoted text here, line 1
WvV> some quoted text here, line 2
WvV> some quoted text here, line 3
or,
RvB> some quoted text here, line 1
RvB> some quoted text here, line 2
RvB> some quoted text here, line 3
But when YOU start a quoted reply, the aligned lines get staggered, for example:
WvV> some quoted text here, line 1 WvV> some quoted text here,
line 2 WvV> some quoted text here, line 3
or,
RvB> some quoted text here, line 1 RvB> some quoted text here,
line 2 RvB> some quoted text here, line 3
Names with 3 or more initials such as "Wilfred van Velzen", or
"Rick van Beek" ...
..get staggered, for example:
WvV> some quoted text here, line 1 WvV> some quoted texthere, AA> line 2 WvV> some quoted text here, line 3
Nope, can't reproduce that here, sorry.
I can work around the problem be re-editing manually, but I simply
avoid striking up a conversation with 3-initial people to save work!

Hi Martin.. Hop over to an echo such as TEST or FIDONEWS. You will find more 3-initial names there (most from the euro-zones. Try some test replies in OXP and you will then surely be able to reproduce the problem.
:)
Will experiment some more. Maybe the original problem had to do with how each original line was terminated, or how long each quoted line was originally.
Perhaps you should also have a look at OpenXP's editor settings,
particularly the right margin setting.

I'd already done that and I say again that I cannot reproduce the
problem.

I believe this is the default. I haven't changed it. What is your setting?

MORE info. The problem occurs when doing a block reflow!

Then I like "WV>" better... Changing the v of van to a capital V
is just wrong.

Well, as you can see from the tardiness of this reply I am WAY, WAY
on my reading in Points. ;-(
As you can see, timEd, OS/2, Windows and DOS all quote multi-initials correctly. I've been using it both as a Point and for my regular Node editor for years now.
