Hi
I've been working on the interbbs side of things today, and made a number of improvements.
interbbs battles. So to send an interbbs battle you would have to pay for supplies etc then send them on their way. This would stop people sending troops to battle to avoid paying their wages :P
Andrew
I'm keen to update soon, but waiting for the wise men here to say go for it :
What build would this be? 72 or the Beta 74? Will it be Hatched out or should I get it from your site
I've been working on the interbbs side of things today, and made a number of improvements.
1. Reworked the packet system, now there is no longer a 60 second timeout for waiting to send packets, and packet name generation should no longer create duplicate names within a 1 month period.
2. Added a game_id check. When the game is reset it generates a random game_id, this will stop stale packets from old games getting imported
into new games.
3. Resetting the game as the coordinator will now automatically reset the game locally. Just a convinence for avon so he just has to type GalacticDynasty reset.
Finally, I wanted to float an idea with regards to transport costs for interbbs battles. So to send an interbbs battle you would have to pay for supplies etc then send them on their way. This would stop people sending troops to battle to avoid paying their wages :P

Great idea. I like it. Makes it more Real-World like. Now if you could only simulate the Off-Base parties for the soldiers like we used
to have in Germany... That could get interesting... :)
The only bug I believe I haven't solved is the negative score thing, it may be sort of fixed, but I think we really need some "win the game"
thing that happens otherwise with ever growing scores it doesn't matter how big i make the variable to store it in.
We could say for now who ever reaches negative scores first wins the game
I've been working some on my Break the web... Had to fix an issue if someone log onto the game but does not select their Region/Home... They are like a ghost with no home... So noone could attack them... Got that fixed... :)
I think having a win scenario would be the best option. I know you were thinking about completing the command ship as being the end game. In the local version I have running here, it only took a few days and I had the command ship finished..

Well that wont do at all haha. Perhaps a score target instead?
I've just started dividing the scores by 100, seems they were starting
out at about 2000, now they'll start out about 20.
I'm thinking we bite the bullet and let Avon upgrade, we can sort out a win scenario after we see how this game plays out, obviously not by command ship building given how quickly you built it :P
D32, but it is a bit dated...
I use a Door Kit called Angel. It's pretty good. It's fairly easy to learn and it works for me..
Andrew
Sorry I "Took Over" your search.... Just pointed you to where it was... I hope it did not bother you...
I was going to ask you how you do all of that with GD... but I am sure
you are way too busy, plus you do your work in C ... I've never been good with C...
implementation up to you, might make a good fsxnet wiki article as you're not the first to ask.
Won't be able to do it today though, have to go to a 30th birthday party soon and I'm already exhausted lol.
Andrew
No problem. It would be interesting reading... Whenever you have a free 12 seconds... :
Enjoy the party....
OK troops I have hatched the latest version uploaded to me by Andrew and will work on getting it installed at the HUB over the next 24 hours. Will post here when done.
I was mistaken.. there are 3 versions, 2 for TP and 1 for BP...
They DO have '.TPU's ... so I do not think it will run on FreePascal.
BTW, what doorkit do you use for Pascal? I was looking at using g00r0 D32, but it is a bit dated...

I will make sure I have it uploaded on my BBS...

it could be converted because if you have something that it does not like make it a long integer and it compiles and or use uses32. wait does fp
use uses32 or i could be thinking vp
Andrew, if at all possible, could you include the build number in the source code? It would help me to make sure I'm running the correct
build..

I'm not really sure how I would do that. If it helps I do tag releases whenever a version gets hatched out.
If you've got the latest right now, it's the right version. If later
on you want to get the release tag you can download a tarball from the releases page on git hub, I am sure there is a git command to switch to a tagged release also.
Doesn't one of them use long integer and the other use word, or something like that? If that's all it is, I might be able to make it work on fp.

Thanks :)
Would it be possible to please add me to the game when you set it up?
I'm a bit nervous lol
