Intergalactic Wanderer (all night)
The Intergalactic Wanderer (NGC 2419) is a globular cluster situated in Lynx, about 7 degrees north of the bright star Castor. This magnitude 9.1 object is dimmer than most globulars because it is 300,000 light-years away from the
sun. Its name arose because it was once believed that it was not gravitationally bound to the Milky Way. It does indeed orbit our galaxy - with a period of several billion years!
