  • name that tune, challenge #1

From Ogg@21:4/106.1 to All on Tue May 25 20:04:25 2021
    Hello All!

Can anyone recognize this song? It's from the mid 80's.
It's probably too easy to look up since I included far more
lyrics than I should, but I like the "books" reference! <G>

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-0.mp3

    Here's a couple more.

nnt-1: I only left the first word of the song as the clue.

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-1.mp3

nnt-2: A tune with a longer intro and a nice Spanish flare.

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-2.mp3

You may be wondering what's this all about. Well.. these tunes
are part of a CD mix I put together labelled "EZ-mix" many
years ago for my car. The originals were transferred from
cassette collections, and then onto CD.

I'll consider making better quality samples (yes.. there's more
coming!). These were just quick captures using WindowsXP
    Recorder and/or Audacity.

Here's the rest of the mix to try and guess.

A popular band in the late 70's:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-3.mp3

This one is too easy, but I couldn't find a spot with *just*
    some distinctive music:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-4.mp3

This one might be trickier for most of you:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-5.mp3

This one is the same band in ntt-0:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-6.mp3

This woman has a much more famous tune about white oryctolagus
    cuniculus:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-7.mp3

This one was part of the soundtrack of a famous movie about
    loose feet:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-8.mp3

This fellow is known for his famous sneer:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-9.mp3

    Same band as in ntt-8:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-10.mp3

This is the longest sample, and probably has too many clues to
make it too easy! But the tune is pretty fun, and perfect when
driving; I couldn't resist holding this one back too much:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-11.mp3

I couldn't resist witholding clues and provided a longer sample
for this tune also. I believe this woman was referred to as the
    female Springsteen.

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-12.mp3

Ok.. I'm going to make this one harder. Too much of the lyrics
would make it too easy. But maybe the voice is distinctive
    enough:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-13.mp3

This one might be too obscure for most of you. It has a nice
easy laid-back sound all the way through:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-14.mp3

This one is a kind of like a letter in a post-apocalyptic world
of music. I wonder if anyone remembers this one or recognizes
    it:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-15.mp3

Ok.. this one is short. It could be too easy for Canadians:

    https://kolico.ca/quiz/ntt-16.mp3

And that concludes the tunes one of my ancient mix CDs for the
    roads!

This one is the same band in ntt-0:

    Nah not sure.

This woman has a much more famous tune about white oryctolagus cuniculus:

Grace Slick.. liked her better in Starship in the 80s

I wanna know what love is .... great song to play as a radio announcer if you needed a toilet break (just saying)

Sounds like Steve Perry to me but could be wrong...

Sounds like a way out west song, it rings a bell but nope I'm stumped.

of music. I wonder if anyone remembers this one or recognizes
    it:

    Regretfully nope.

Correct, a title would give you a full point. Therefore 1/2

    Thanks this was FUN :)

I'll provide a full reveal in about a week. Remind me if I
    forget.

Your score: 4/16, or 25%. More lyrics would have made it too
easy to look up. I was just curious if people are mindful of
the distinctive licks of headlining tunes. But maybe the top
tunes in UK or USA may render different results in NZ or AUS.

I've got round #2 at the ready.

I didn't get to most of these, only saw some in pass while transitting through other BBS. Only just sorted out what was going on with #muzac here on TLP tonight. But I have to say your 80's must've been a lot different to my 80's I had no idea what the first 3 or 4 were... didn't hear or see the
    rest.
