Going through the top 50 I managed to find one game, Talos Principle 2,
that I've played.

Polygons or sprites.
Or, I guess fonts for ASCII games.
Or just sounds, in at leat one (badly remembered) instance.
Well, it might have had sprints and fonts for the menu. But that
doesn't count.

When I first read the subject line, I thought you were speaking about >"Polyhedron", the old (tabletop) RPG magazine/organization, and was
surprised to know they still existed... much less they had an opinion
on video games.
But, no, Polygon is an entirely different organization.
But, I'll agree: the list is generally a better selection of games
(even if most of their top-ten is identical to NY Times)

I was reminded of this thread while reading an article the other day
about a gamer who managed to play professionally despite being
entirely blind.* He had learned to play fighting games simply based on
the sounds the sprites made, even able to tell the difference based on
what side of the screen they were.
So while the games have visuals (be they polgons or sprites or
characters or vectors... apparently they aren't necessary if you're
skilled enough. ;-)
