it's exactly what you expect; the third game in
Bioware's home-brew fantasy CRPG series. This iteration

It's not a bad game but it wasn't a particularly
compelling one either; it was rote. Paint-by-numbers.
Formulaic Bioware to a tee. It's an okay game, just
completely lacking in notability or surprise. If you
want a well-made but typical western CRPG, you might
as well play this one over any other.

It's rare that Epic offers a triple-A game, so grab this one before

    Acshually....

"Origin allows multiple copies of the same game. Or it did (I haven't
tried recently). And sometimes it didn't work. But its hwo I ended up
with multiple copies of Battlefield 3 and Dead Space 2."...

... which is what I wrote before I actually fired up Origin for the
first time in months to verify what I had written. The above /was/
true, but now those duplicate copies have vanished.

(Which honestly seems a bit like theft, but I'm sure there's something
in the EULA which allows EA that privilege, and anyway, it's not like
having multiple copies actually got me anything or that I could sell
the dupes. They just made my Origin library that little bit bigger.)

Like the fact that the EULA says you don't actually own any of those copies?

There's apparently a list of mods which cuts the game down to about 40
hours. RPS wrote about it here: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/this-handy-list-of-mods-makes-dragon-age-inquisition-short-enough-to-play-again-before-dreadwolf-comes-out

and the list of mods is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qe6mn9eQdCFyXWdgdNk-wBD4OtFAUsNCK4lRplvkXcY

I'm not sure if I should play with those mods or try to have the full experience. I've never played Dragon Age anything but since it's a
freebie I thought I'd give it a try.

This quote from the article about the next one is hilarious:
"The tradition of being annoyed by Dragon Age while simultaneously
loving it looks set to continue."

I never loved Dragon Age, but There were things I did love in the first
game, and a lot more I was annoyed with. I occasionally have a passing
thought to replay it, but it's rejected instantly, and thus much more
quickly than other games that passing thought about replaying comes to me.

It also says DA 2 is a lot shorter, maybe I need to get and play that
    one now.

and the list of mods is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qe6mn9eQdCFyXWdgdNk-wBD4OtFAUsNCK4lRplvkXcY

I never modded either, now I've got the thought I should replay them
with mods. The mod for more party banter the article mentioned sounds
    good.

On the other hand, I don't remember a single thing I actually liked
about DA 3 and would want to re-experience. I never did finish it
though, so perhaps I missed something, but I got fairly far.

You aren't missing anything. I'd describe it as somewhere between
bologna and pork sausage that was boiled and canned pressed into a
block. It's quite popular in Hawaii as it's one of the easier ways to
get meat there. That's spread back to California a bit with the cuisine.

It's not as bad as it sounds, it's fine if you slice and sear it, but
I'd still much rather have fresh sausage. It's probably on the same
level as bologna for me taste wise, just a bit different and much more expensive, but being canned lasts a lot longer and travels better. It'd
be good for an extended wilderness trip.

I've never had it. The food, I mean.

I certainly remember it growing up as a child and I believe in the UK
its popularity started in WWII where it was a cheaper, and more readily available, source of meat. It's waned over the years and I presume a lot
of that is due to the introduction of cheap food. Why buy a can of Spam
when for another £1 you can buy a whole chicken. Admittedly at that
price the chicken we be pumped with as much water as they are legally
allowed to get away with and be generally all round awful.

Spam was a part of the WW2 equivalent of MRE. As Justicar says its not
bad _if_ you cook it right. I have a brown sugar & mustard glaze recipe
    that works quite well.

Keep in mind that the methods for making spam have improved over the
last 70-80 years and are now aimed at a civilian consumer base that has
a choice in the matter.... ;)

Spam was a part of the WW2 equivalent of MRE. As Justicar says its not
bad _if_ you cook it right. I have a brown sugar & mustard glaze recipe
    that works quite well.

I had a colleague originally from Hawaii who could do magic with spam.
The meat is reportedly quite popular in that state. It's a staple in
many of their dishes, right down to replacing the 'ham' in ham
sandwiches. They occassionally brought in some home-made dishes, and
almost inevitably they included spam as a main ingredient. They were
    quite tasty.

That said, I don't really think it was the inclusion of the spam that
made the food so tasty (if anything, I think that using a less
processed meat might have made for an even better tasting meal). But
the use of spam didn't immediately damn the food to the bin; it was
almost always one of the dishes that would be eaten completely.
Properly prepared, spam is quite edible.

But spam alone? I wouldn't recommend it. It's not /horrid/ but it is definitely an acquired taste, and there are a lot better things to
    eat.

Well, that's true of a lot of what we buy in supermarkets....
