• Fallout TV: Better late than never.

Well I finally started watching and so far two episodes down. I didn't
have that high expectations but so far I quite like it. It captures that
dark but humorous setting that I've always associated with Fallout. The
acting is good and I like the plot lines so far. I was also pleased to
see they've kept it to eight episodes so as to not overstay its welcome.

The interesting part is I watched it with my better half who knows
nothing about Fallout. They rather liked it as well and I didn't get the barrage of questions I was expecting. No they aren't robots, that's
    power armour!

I didn't actively dislike the show. It was impressive at how closely
it hewed to the source material; usually Hollywood is a lot more
liberal when it comes to rewriting a video-game license. I do feel
that conservatism came at a cost to people not already familiar with
the IP; not so much that it was impossible to follow for a newcomer,
but it made the show more dense, like you were missing out on
important subtext just because you didn't play the video games.

And I personally found the storyline and characters to be a lot less
engaging than in other shows. I didn't really LIKE any of the
characters, I didn't really care about their quests and goals. I was
watching less because I wanted to see how the story turned out and
more because I was interested in how the video-game license was being translated to the medium of TV. That's great for fans of the games,
but -again- I think it weakened the appeal for everyone else.

Not at all the experience from what I've read from those watching who
haven't played the games. It seems to be universally well received. My
wife was kind of half-watching it and was interested and asked a few
questions, not that many though, which is more than I can say for moth
things I watch (she noped out of Dune part 2 recently.)

All in all, A+ for the fan-service but as a show I found it pretty
average; not a terrible watch, but I'd likely have been watching
anything else if it hadn't had the Fallout license attached to it. I'm actually surprised it got renewed for a second season.

I thought it was pretty good, but I may just be having trouble
separating it from my Fallout fanhood. As it was universally well
loved, it's not surprising to me at all it got a 2nd season.

average; not a terrible watch, but I'd likely have been watching
anything else if it hadn't had the Fallout license attached to it. I'm

I thought it was pretty good, but I may just be having trouble
separating it from my Fallout fanhood. As it was universally well
loved, it's not surprising to me at all it got a 2nd season.

I started playing Fallout 76 again after seeing Fallout TV, and so far
have been sticking with it. In fact it may be the most hours I've
ever played in an MMORPG, unless Red Dead 2 Online somehow counts as
    MMORPG.

So the show got me inspired to give it another try, but really has
nothing to do with the reasons I've continued playing it. I don't
think what's going on in the game really feels that connected to what
went on in the show... I mean yes there were lots of game references
in the show, but aside from those specific cases the vibe just feels
    different.

I'm really not sure how long I will stay with it. When I realized
that weight management was the biggest pain in the ass, I made sure to
do the quests needed to get the backpack that adds 60 weight. That
was fun because depending on how you go about it, there are things
that need to be done that force you to get a bit tactical in your
approach (for example, killing a Yao Guai with a syringer to meet the
hunter badge requirement is fairly difficult until you figure out a
way to use the environment to your advantage).

So I tend to be a very goal-oriented player and I like to have very
clear objectives like getting that backpack in order to have a reason
to play. So of course, now I would like to upgrade the backpack with
the high capacity mod, but from what I can tell the things required to
do it would be a serious grind with a payoff of only 10 additional
pounds... juice doesn't feel worth the squeeze there.

So unless I can find some meaningful objective soon, I may not be able
to stay with it too much longer.

That was my experience with it, my better half has never heard of
Fallout but enjoyed it never the less. As for the questions part, yep my
better half does make a habit of asking me questions to which my only
reply is, I don't know I'm just watching the same as you are.

I think it's got another series in it but I hope they don't follow the
trend of many where it's, this was a success so lets make twice as many episodes as we did before. The problem I find with that is you don't get
more content but instead the same content dragged out over a longer
time. It' kinda like 80hr+ games where 50% of that time is not doing
    anything in particular.
