• Boderlands 3 featured on Steam for $60?

From PW@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jul 23 19:05:40 2024
I thought this game has been out at least a year and initially had
very bad reviews. Now Steam is promoting it and selling it for $60
and has an overall Very Positive reviews.

What is going on? Back to full price for an old game?

An Eli Roth 'Borderlands' movie is coming out in a few weeks from
Lionsgate. Big budget, Cate Blanchett is the lead.

    and initially had
very bad reviews.  Now Steam is promoting it and selling it for $60

I don't see more than one particularly bad review from journalists from
when it was released, most were glowing to high.

In fact for me it had lowered the ridiculously high amount of grinding
for good weapons that 2 had that annoyed the hell out of me to the point
I used a cheat to change the drop rates. I was just over borderlands
long before that point as there were far too many non-numbered
    bordlerlands games by that point.

Ah yes, always raise the price when there's any potential new interest.
I'd bet on the movie being a flop from the way the trailers look, and it
going back down on price shortly after though.

Thanks! Not going to pay $60 for it. I got tired of Borderlands 2

Might be a case of, at the time of release they were not interested at
all in the game, and/or had a shit machine that could not play it.

The TV show sparks their interest, and now they'll take a chance on the
game since the show introduced them to that world.

I imagine that Interview with a Vampire movie, introduced a lot of
people to Anne Rice and who went on to read the books, only because
they'd been introduced to the world in a low effort way.

My small sample size of four young adults have never heard of
Borderlands. They were also all surprised there was a Funko Pop
doll I recognized and they didn't (Tiny Tina).

I doubt they'll want to watch a PG-13 movie about a game series they
haven't played. I doubt I will enjoy the movie but probably will watch
    it.

I guess the movie's rating says something about the target audience of
the games too. Or maybe it's a mistake.

The "Content-Type" and related headers are an unofficial extension
borrowed from email that some newsreaders support and others don't.
This is first time in a long time that I've seen any posts use a. non-human-readable Content-Transfer-Encoding. There's actually no point
in doing that since Usenet has long been 8-bit clean (if it ever actually wasn't) and so text using just about any encoding, including UTF-8, can
be transmited as is without the unnecessary "quoted-printable" encoding.
