It took way too long for you to get this posted. I was sitting in the
group this morning thinking, "I'll not post. I'll see how long it takes Spalls." 12:53 PM my time? Really?

    You are slipping old man!

    Bwahahahahahaha.

Very little needs be said about this one. The Tropico
series has been so long running, you likely know what
it is all about. Rule a tropical island as undisputed
dictator, and make of it what you will: vacation
paradise, socialist sanctuary, or third-world hellhole.
This fourth game is more of a refinement than anything
else; new maps, a few new buildings, improvements to
the trading system and disasters, but still the same
old game. If you liked the formula introduced with
the earlier games, you'll like this one too. If Tropico
    1-3 didn't hook you, I doubt you'll become a fan with
    number 4.

Sounds like a village builder so I grabbed since I'm into village
    builders....

I like these types of games as well but I never got around to playing
anything in the Tropico series. There is a good chance that between my
Steam library and my GOG library I may now own several of these.

The game is free-to-keep so long as you claim it on GOG within the
next three days. Don't wait too long, El Presidente!

I played number 3 and thought it was ok but I can't say I really enjoyed
it. A shame really as it was genre I used to like having spent many
hours playing both Caesar III and Pharaoh.

The original Tropico still works, though it no longer runs in hardware
mode. My wife still plays it. So does Tropico 2, but that has a pirate
theme and is harder to get to run (I had to install dgVodoo2 for its
    DirectX wrapper).

The original Tropico will give you a similar experience to the games you
list. Old school isometric. Highly recommended.
