    Probably 8 for me.

As an example, one of the achievements for System Shock is 'complete
the game at the highest difficulties'. That alone does not bother me
and I would try that just for the achievement but one of the
difficulties requires me to finish the game in a certain time limit.
Since I fucking hate time limits, I won't be going after that
    achievement at all.

I got 40 Gamerpoints (see below, but you gave me "8" if you're confused).
In past years, I have gone out of my way to get full achievements in my favorite games, but usually only to have a DLC mess it up. So I stopped
being a 50 (10) point person quite a while ago. And I definitely never
went to a Steam guide to figure out stubborn, esoteric, and/or hidden achievements. (Well, maybe once or twice). I just let it surprise me. So
    40 (8) is my niche.

If an achievement represents a significant and interesting challenge,
such as The Talos Principle II (eg: Solve [puzzle] by picking up only one connector), I am definitely trying get that achievement. Doing massive
overkill damage? Lining up a ridiculous rail gun shot? Killing someone by pushing them off a cliff? Totally down for that.

I also enjoy scavenger hunt quests, which usually have an achievement associated with them. Especially if they involve spat-viz or POV skills.

(BTW, Gamerpoints are usually given in multiples of 5 and 10. I'm going
to multiply all your achievement awards by 5, for *correct* rewards of
    100, 50, 40, 30, 25, and 15. That's why I got 40 Gamerpoints. Nyah.)

...I also got an achievement, recently added.

That's probably closest to me. I have no real interest in gaining
achievements but I do understand why they are in games so I accept that
are there as I don't find something annoying if I can so easily ignore it.

Of course I certainly don't have a problem if people like to chase them
but I just don't. The one I don't understand though is those using a
guide to tell you exactly how to do them. That crosses the line into
you're not playing the game any more but are just following a set of instructions.

My caveat on achievements is where they are really extra content so
Talos Principle is a good example of that. They are gold stars that can
be found which unlock extra puzzles to do. That makes far more sense to me.

Around this neighborhood I think. Basically, if it seems from
achievements I don't have that I'm missing some content, then I might
well go look for that *content*. Achievements be damned.

I think last time I went looking for achievements was one of the Mass

You kind of touch on my personal issue with Achievements. They are not
organic to the games. They are something added by the storefronts, not
by the game creators. (Or the storefronts force the creators to add
them in order to be made available on their sites. Same thing.) And
the only reason to do it is to try to entice (or force) customers to
keep coming back to the storefronts.
