It's nice that they gave this 'legendary' edition to existing users,
but the general opinion is: skip the enhanced version and play the
original with mods. It's definitely not worth /buying/.

I mean, you hardly need me to actually /say/ what I think of this (but
I will anyway). I'm not a fan of remasters, and think all that energy
is better spent towards making new games. ;-)
But looking at the trailer, I have to say I'm rather disappointed. At
best, it's hard for me to notice any improvements. But there are
several areas (like the monster at the 39s mark) where the game looks >significantly worse; it has that plastic-like sheen that a lot of
shitty remasters apply to early 2000s-era games. It feels like the
developers did a quick-n-messy AI upscale and called it a day.
Honestly, the fan-made remasters already available look much, much
better. As much as I want to support a developer from Ukraine, this
looks like just a lazy cash-in.
As an aside:
The enhanced versions of the STALKER games are also now free for
anyone who already owned the games on GOG. They'll be automatically
added to your library.
This was an expected, but not absolutely certain, event. Often GOG
lags behind Steam with getting these sort of freebies; sometimes they
never arrive at all. So -whatever my feelings on the updated versions-
it's nice to see that all existing users are getting treated fairly.
Hey, I wonder if I send evidence that I own the original games on
CD-ROM to "GSC Games" (the developers of STALKER) if they'll send me a
THIRD copy of the enhanced versions ;-)
