I'm sure Alan is wanting to know.
On 11/15/2021 I bought a 16" Mac M1. It failed, totally bricked, 2
weeks later. It was returned to the local Apple store for a full
refund.
About a week later, and after hours of research, I bought a Dell 9510
with 2 TB SSD, 32GB RAM, i9 processor and HD screen.
So far, over 4 months later, it has not bricked. I did have short
online session with Dell tech service to clear up a minor video
playback issue. Other than that it's been trouble free - so far.
I bought the i9 option knowing it's heat production/power use
reputation. All very true. It gets hot and the battery life is about
4-6 hours, less if you are doing heavy video work. It even warms up
playing YouTube videos, but according to the Core Temp app when
rendering a video file the CPU cores hit 200 F. That's hot.
So it's not ideal for producing my YouTube channel videos. I may
shift over to iMovie on the iPad for that even though that software
is not as capable as the Windows app I'm using.

Wish I had better luck with Dell. Bought a 9710 17 in 4K with a
beautiful display and Face ID login that worked nice - without requiring
a notch. Problem is it ran so hot that battery life was at most 4
hours on a good day, and the fan sounded like a hair dryer. Failed in
5 days so returned. The only area it was ahead of Apple on was the
absolute excellent integration of Face ID with no notch at all.
