In Atlanta to see family we were 3 miles away from the Alpharetta Apple store. I persuaded her to go take a look at iPhone and we left with a new 126 gb 14.

junk.
Her 4 year old Moto phone was working fine. It is not a piece of
junk. A bit slow, and the battery life has declined, but otherwise
works great. Same for her Samsung Android tablet that I replaced with
my iPad 7.
My prior iPhone and iPad were slowing down and had reduced battery
life too before I recently traded up to the 14 Pro and iPad 9.
Some cheap Android phones are not very good at all. I'll give you
that.

Android?
At the moment she is still struggling with differences a bit. It's
"This worked on my old.....". There are real differences, and the
fact that the apps are different enough that our 3rd party password
manager is having issues with filling app credentials. Not so much
websites, but apps. We are working through it though. I'm betting in
a month or two we will have the kinks ironed out.
