• I think this is a javascript question

From Connor Shannon@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jun 26 21:38:50 2023
Its no big deal but sometimes I can't see javascript (I think) things on my MacBook that I can see on my iMac with Firefox. Like on the Schwab home page there's a strip at the bottom where they tell the market indexes for the day. I can't see them on the
home page on my MacBook but if I log in then all the other pages have them but on my iMac I can see them on the home page w/o logging in.

I found a website that tells you what version of javascript you have and it said both computers are using 1.5. So then I looked in about:config and found a thing on the iMac called pref.advanced.javascript.disable_button.advanced so I added that to the
Macbook but nothing changed. The computers are running the same Firefox and MacOS. Safari and chrome work okay on the Macbook but I'm not giving up FF just for this!

Like I said it's no big deal but sometimes other things don't show up either and now I'm just curious why it's different! What else can I look for?

It's interesting that you're experiencing a difference in how certain JavaScript elements are displayed on your MacBook compared to your iMac
when using Firefox. There could be several factors contributing to this
issue. Here are a few suggestions on what else you can look into:

    1. Firefox Add-ons: Check if you have any browser extensions or add-ons installed on your MacBook's Firefox that might be affecting JavaScript functionality. Try disabling them temporarily and see if the issue persists.

    2. Cache and Cookies: Clear the cache and cookies in your Firefox
browser on the MacBook. Sometimes, outdated or conflicting cache and
cookies can interfere with the rendering of JavaScript elements.

    3. Content Blocking: Firefox has built-in content blocking options that
could potentially affect the display of JavaScript elements. Make sure
that you have not enabled any strict content blocking settings that
might be preventing the display of certain elements. You can find these settings in the Firefox preferences under "Privacy & Security."

    4. JavaScript Settings: Double-check the JavaScript settings in Firefox
on your MacBook. Go to the Firefox preferences and navigate to "Privacy
& Security" > "Permissions" > "Settings" (next to the JavaScript entry).
Ensure that JavaScript is enabled and there are no specific site
exceptions that might be affecting the Schwab home page.

    5. User-Agent Differences: It's possible that there might be a
difference in how the Schwab website is rendering JavaScript based on
the user-agent string of your MacBook and iMac. The user-agent string identifies the browser and operating system to websites. You can compare
the user-agent strings of Firefox on both devices by visiting https://www.whatismybrowser.com/ and see if there's any significant
difference. If so, you can try changing the user-agent string on your
MacBook to match the iMac and see if that resolves the issue.

If none of these suggestions help, it might be worth reaching out to
Schwab's technical support for further assistance. They may be able to
provide specific guidance or insights into the issue you're experiencing.

I wouldn't either, Firefox is still producing security updates as long
as your MacBook is at least running Mojave -- Chrome stopped with that
    OS.

Just Adblock Plus but I have Schwab whitelisted but I tried turning it off any way and it didn't make a difference.

    2. Cache and Cookies: Clear the cache and cookies in your Firefox
browser on the MacBook. Sometimes, outdated or conflicting cache and

I removed the Schwab cookies but it didn't help I think I tried that a few days ago. I don't want to delete my whole browser cache! I guess I could try it if nothing else works though.

there isn't any "Content Blocking" section in FF.

There isn't any Javascript in the Settings list.

    Their the same.

Maybe. Not a big deal now I'm just curious why it doesn't work!
