• Re: bookworm mini.iso outdated?

    Hi,

    Dick Visser <dnmvisser@gmail.com> (2023-12-08):
I've been using the "mini.iso" for installing debian onto VMware VMs and
that has worked fine for years. This week I wanted to use that method to install Bookworm, but I now get:

No kernel modules were found. This probably is due to a mismatch between
the kernel used by this version of the installer and the kernel version available in the archive.

    I can't reproduce that.

The image I got is http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso

The sha1sum of the image I downloaded is c29dca30d20cbc0deadc6eec22e8ff3c2e9c0bf4. I tried other mirrors and they're all the same.

Seeing the same shasum here, but definitely not having the problem
you're mentioning. Are you sure you're actually using *that* image?

There appears to be only 20230607 and 20230607+deb12u2 both they both point to the same (outdated) iso. I don't see any newer mini.iso images...

The former is the version that shipped with 12.0; it's *not* the same
as the latter, which is symlinked as 'current'. The former has the
    following sha1sum: 8b8a7e8b1fc127e8704a63e54a93e84b985ccd4a and does
exhibit the problem you're mentioning (and it's normal for older images
    to behave that way).

    Cheers,

    All images I download are sha1sum c29dca30d20cbc0deadc6eec22e8ff3c2e9c0bf4....

But are you actually using that image?

To be sure we're talking about the same thing, can you post the actual URL
of the image with sha1sum 8b8a7e8b1fc127e8704a63e54a93e84b985ccd4a?

    kibi@tokyo:~$ curl -s http://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-amd64/20230607/images/netboot/mini.iso -o - | sha1sum
    8b8a7e8b1fc127e8704a63e54a93e84b985ccd4a -
    kibi@tokyo:~$ curl -s http://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-amd64/20230607+deb12u2/images/netboot/mini.iso -o - | sha1sum

    kibi@tokyo:~$ curl -s http://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso -o - | sha1sum
    c29dca30d20cbc0deadc6eec22e8ff3c2e9c0bf4 -

I'm seeing the same on ftp.debian.org and ftp.fr.debian.org and whatever
is happening is clearly not a problem on the mirror side…
