• Bug#1101101: initscripts: update initscripts 3.14-3 to 3.14-4 removes k

From richard@appendix.xaq.nl@21:1/5 to All on Sun Mar 23 10:50:02 2025
    Package: initscripts
    Version: 3.14-3
    Severity: important

    Dear Maintainer,

On multiple Sys-V machines the update of initscripts removes the kernel:

    REMOVING:
    alsa-utils kmod linux-image-amd64
    initramfs-tools linux-image-6.12.12-amd64 plymouth
    initramfs-tools-core linux-image-6.12.17-amd64 plymouth-label

For the moment I put the package on hold. Using "apt-cache depends" I can't find out why this happens. I'm not a dpkg guru either.

in order to upgrade initscripts you have to wait for kmod that is in
    unstable to migrate to testing.

    Best,
    Lorenzo

Presumably this (entirely avoidable and badly timed breakage from kmod
package) requires us to wait two more days for the dependency chain to
    migrate?

A non-superficial autopkgtest for broadcom-sta would speed things up but
I suspect that would not be easy to arrange!
