• Bug#1103915: mark sqv Multi-Arch: foreign

From Helmut Grohne@21:1/5 to All on Tue Apr 22 22:20:01 2025
    Package: sqv
    Version: 1.2.1-5
    Severity: important
    Justification: architecture cross bootstrap regression
    Control: affects -1 + src:apt
    User: debian-cross@lists.debian.org
    Usertags: cross-satisfiability

    Hi Holger,

apt started depending on sqv. This happens to render apt cross
bd-uninstallable and that is considered an important architecture cross bootstrap regression worthy to be fixed for trixie. To fix this, sqv
should be marked "Multi-Arch: foreign". I looked into the package and
found no evidence of it behaving in an architecture-dependent way.

Unfortunately, I cannot quite tell you how to add that to
debian/control, as debian/control is not stored in the debcargo-conf repository. I suspect that you need to create a
debian/control.debcargo.hint file, replace the field there and hope that debcargo picks it up.

Would you be able to fix this during the soft freeze?

I note that this is fixing a regression (not of sqv, but of apt)
    introduced after April 2nd.

    Helmut

    Hi Holger,

I'm not the only maintainer of the package, in fact it has *3* uploaders
*and* the whole rust team is maintaining it.

Would you be able to fix this during the soft freeze?

    probably. :)

This got tied up with a more general question about debcargo,
which took a while to resolve.

I've now made an upload marking sqv as Multi-Arch: foreign,
but the "hard freeze" will hit before it's testing migration delay
finishes. I would appreciate if someone more familiar with the
package than me could do some testing and file the unblock request.
