• Bug#1006399: About php-htmlpurifier in Debian

From William Desportes@21:1/5 to All on Tue May 13 17:40:01 2025
    Hi,

Thank you for your input on the php-htmlpurifier package.
I took notes of this on my dashboard.

+ added the O: as Cc.

    Hi,

The package php-htmlpurifier will miss Debian Trixie, should I open a
RM bug to get the package removed ?

please don’t, there’s an O bug for it already, but it still has
    a dependency (civicrm):
    https://bugs.debian.org/1006399

Incidentally, this message probably should have put the bug in cc.

It is not compatible with PHP 8 and depends on the removed package
    pear-channels.

I think the latter can probably be patched out, the former will
need changing (tbh, I personally am fed up with PHP trying to
emulate the bad things of Python3 and breaking compatibility).

Upstream did not make releases since some years.

That is not necessarily an issue. I maintain software without
upstream releases for decades, which is still very useful.

    Please let me know.

I’d ask Dmitry Smirnov <onlyjob@debian.org> as maintainer of
civicrm whether he has any plans of how to proceed.

For now, having the occasional work-needing package in sid that
misses releases is not a problem; some have been resurrected by
    interested parties over the years.

    bye,
