  • CGM comparisons?

    I think I'm ready for a Constant Glucose Monitor system, but there are a lot
    of different ones. Which, if any, does the group recommend? I have access to DEXCOM, but don't know much about the various options.

    Got a Dexcom G4 in October 2013, lost my insurance
    & switched to an inexpensive Freestyle Libre that re-
    quired manual placing it next to the sensor, but when
    I got my insurance back, went back to the Dexcom G4

    Dexcom G7 & Freestyle Libre 3 may be available in the
    U.S. late this year or early in 2022 (unclear). Eversense
    & Medtronic, for some reason I've never considered using
    them. Freestyle Libre 3 is reported to be = or better than
    Dexcom G6/G7 & less expensive.

    I've had recent problems with my Dexcom G6 (may be
    due to my having been doing the insertions in my abdo-
    men for going on 8 years now). That problem may be sol-
    vable with the Freestyle Libre 3 as its insertions are done
    in the upper back of the arms.

    Another factor to consider, if you're an insulin pump fan,
    and I am, having used the tubeless Omnipod since Jan-
    uary 2014, they're about to upgrade to a closed loop
    Omnipod 5 which adjusts insulin basil dosages based
    on CGM readings (Dexcom G6, planning to connect to

    The Omnipod 5 may be available early in 2022.
