Deja News Names Three New Executives to Management Team; Guy Hoffman, Bill Townsend[end quote]

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 1997--Deja News, Inc. (http://www.dejanews.com)
today introduced its senior management team, composed of new and existing executives
who will lead the company to its next level of achievement.
Guy Hoffman will be leading Deja News as its president and chief executive officer.
He has over 12 years of industry and management experience, most recently serving as
executive vice president and chief operating officer of OpenConnect Systems, Inc.
Bill Townsend, part of the original management team at Lycos, Inc., is Deja News'
new vice president of business development and David Wilson has been named vice
president of marketing. Wilson joins Deja News from Micrografx, Inc. where he was
director of brand management.
These new executives join the existing management team consisting of: Founder and
Chief Technology Officer Steve Madere, Vice President of Technical Operations Rami
El-Charif, Vice President of Sales and Service Wes Schaefer and Vice President of
Software Development Scott Williams.
In just over two years, Deja News has grown from a small start-up operation to the

Deja News' other new executive, Vice President of Marketing David Wilson, oversees
all marketing functions including product management, product marketing, public
relations and marketing communications. Before joining Deja News, Wilson built the
consumer division at Micrografx, Inc., creating and launching several successful

recently served as director of brand management at Micrografx with responsibility for
