    Is there a way to hide a specific thread so that it never shows up
    again, nor any of its child articles?

    Kill by message-id would kill most of the replies, except those that
    don't do References properly.

    you could have a macro do that. IIRC, there's also a simple adaptive
    scoring macro out there

    I believe that without the proper References, slrn wouldn't fold the
    reply into the original thread anyway.
