Richard was admirably open about Pacino's own shortcomings, Vanessa's
"the iambic pentamer of the soul" was plain embrassing but the black
homeless guy gave the best appreciation of Shakespeare's words EVER and
it was my first introduction to Spacey who WAS Buckingham. Devious bastard. Also, Ben Wishaw's BBC Richard II was heartbreaking - check out YouTube.
I loved Zeffirelli's R & J and Hamlet - the latter for the supporting
cast like Paul Scofield's Ghost, but Mel Gibson was better than you might expect. I like Olivier and Brangh's Henry V for different reasons but Branagh's Much Ado, which I first saw in Florence, is a delight.
