    Friends.
Thought you would be interested in a series of new classic film score
albums I have been arranging and reconstructing for Marco Polo (and a
couple for BMG Classics). The first two we did for Marco Polo were (1) HISTORICAL ROMANCES which includes Suites from GUNGA DIN (Newman),
DEVOTION (Korngold), JUAREZ OVERTURE (Korngold) and a 30 minute Suite from Max Steiner's CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE (including the rousing Charge itself!) and (2) CAPT. BLOOD with includes Korngold's CAPT. BLOOD (Duh!), Victor Young's SCARAMOUCHE, Steiner's THE THREE MUSKETEERS and Rozsa's THE KING'S THIEF.
Also in Berlin, we did two albums for BMG CLASSICS. (1) The Mark Twain
Album with Korngold's THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER, and Steiner's ADVENTURES
OF MARK TWAIN. This has just recently been released as an import. We also have in the can a FILM NOIR album with music from Adolph Deutsch's THE MALTESE FALCON, ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT; Frederick Hollander's excellent
moody THE VERDICT, Steiner's WHITE HEAT and Waxman's DARK PASSAGE. These
last two and the following CD's have all been conducted by Bill Stromberg, who is excellent.
Earlier this year Marco Polo released two Horror albums we did in Moscow
(my favorite recording venue). One was the complete HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (Salter and Dessau) and the other contains lengthy suites from THE WOLF
MAN, THE INVISIBLE MAN RETURNS and SON OF FRANKENSTEIN (Frank Skinner)
We have four additional discs recorded and getting ready for release. They are: Korngold's complete ANOTHER DAWN score (with the ballet from ESCAPE
ME NEVER), A Steiner album with THE LOST PATROL, THE BEAST WITH FIVE
FINGERS, and VIRGINIA CITY, Bernard Herrmann's complete GARDEN OF EVIL
(and a Suite from PRINCE OF PLAYERS), and a Hugo Friedhofer album with ADVENTURES OF MARCO POLO, THE LODGER, SEVEN CITIES OF GOLD and THE RAINS
    OF RANCHIPUR.
Next month we go to Moscow for two more CD's....one for Alfred Newman (HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, BEAU GESTE and ALL ABOUT EVE) and one devoted to the complete (75 minutes) score to KING KONG.
And finally, early next year, we are doing the complete Sainton score to
MOBY DICK and a VICTOR YOUNG album with BRIGHT LEAF, THE UNINVITED and ???TBA.
We try and do lengthy suites, not bits and pieces or scores. Since most of these need reconstructing from piano scores, we try and be as authentic as possible. I hope anyone interested in classic film scores from the Golden
Age of Film Music will look into these releases. The Marco Polo stuff is
kind of hard to find unless you are in a large city, but you can get information on them by calling
