From Kalevi Kolttonen@21:1/5 to All on Sat Nov 16 19:24:34 2024
    Hello!

I have no fucking idea whether anyone ever
reads this group anymore, but if there are
still lurkers out there, please take note
    of this post.

ChatGPT suggested sharing a link to my humble
    movie page:

    https://kolttonen.fi/movies/index.html

There's not much content, but these are the
so-called selling points of my contribution:

    1) Numerous cult movies listed in a simple HTML page,
with emphasis on giallos, eurohorror and independent
    films

    2) No fucking ads, cookies or anything to distract your
browsing experience. In fact the whole kolttonen.fi
is free from ads and shit like that. I do not get
paid when people visit my site. On the contrary, I
pay for my hosting provider each year to keep going.

    3) Completely spoiler-free comments. I have not
bothered to write much lately, but each time I
watch a movie, I add it there with a very short
comment describing whether the movie is worth
    seeing or not.

I currently have 40-50 cult movies in my To Watch
queue and I am hoping to add them there, slowly
    but surely.

I also have something like 300 of my original giallo
and horror posters photographed. I might upload the
whole lot kolttonen.fi when I have time and energy
to do so! But I am too lazy to organize them by
the tile, so I think I will just dump them into one
    huge page.

    Thanks and take care!

    br,
    KK

    Many thanks.

Yes, I do web pages much the same way as I
did in the autumn on 1994. It is hard
to believe it was 30 years ago when I created
my very first www homepage. I was incredibly
    ignorant about many things.

In 2024, I use vim to edit files and then I do
    HTML5 sanity checks with a Java-based validator
that some cool guys have written. Using bash
shell, I simply have an alias that does e.g.:

    java -jar /home/kalevi/html5/dist/vnu.jar foo.html && echo OK

If there are no errors, I upload the files using
sftp. No web frameworks or any complexities are
    involved in the creation process.

I think I have now leeched something like 70
obscure movies that are no on my To Watch list.
In addition to that, I have probably 20 bluray
disks that I have not yet watched.

I will upload very brief comments each time I
have watched a movie, but it will be slow...

    KK
