comics section that was recently offered and won on ebay:

    Wizard of Id
    Andy Capp
    Dennis the Menace
    Winnie the Pooh
    Redeye
    Hi and Lois
    B.C.
Billy Bob (Ever heard or remember this comic strip?)

    Agatha Crumm
    Inside Woody Allen
    Ripley's Believe It or Not

For the record: 1) "Andy Capp", "Hi and Lois", "B.C.", "Momma", and "The Lockhorns" later moved to the New York Daily News comics for their few to several year time, 2) "Wizard of Id", "Dennis the Menace", and "The Lockhorns" nowadays can be seen in
the NY Long Island Newsday comics pages.

By the way Darryl - congratulations on posting
something (anything!) other than a rerun related post.

(Thank god for Lynn for saving this message board from the rerun threads.)

Allan Holtz has it running Sunday only from November 19, 1978 to March 4, 1979 in The Tampa Tribune.

The El Paso Times ran it from December 3, 1978 to April 8, 1979 (Sundays)
and from December 4, 1978 to March 31, 1979 daily.

Murdoch Features (the syndicate) advertised it as a "country western comic strip"
with "down home humor." Billy Bob headed a county-western band.

There is nothing known about the creators Ledbetter and Clyde.
The names may be pseudonyms. It has a greeting card vibe to it.

    I second this.

Going back to the NY Post, I wish they could make their historical archive available for viewing somewhere. Not sure about newspapers.com since they already have the archives of the Daily News and Newsday but it would be nice for me to be able to view
    old NY Post comics somewhere.

When I was a child in the 50's, the Post did not print on Sundays. On Saturday's they printed a weekend edition and this had a color comics section. Some of the strips they carried were, Mary Worth, Abbie and Slats featuring Bathless Groggins, Dottie
Dripple and Mark Trail, which I think ran on page two. I'm not sure the Post ever published a Sunday edition before Murdoch bought it.
