• ID this strip: Bloom County music festival permit?

From Joshua Kreitzer@21:1/5 to All on Sun Nov 5 08:50:27 2023
There's a strip I'm trying to identify. I believe it was from Bloom County, when Milo and his friends were planning to set up their own version of the US Festival concert.

They go to a town official to apply for a permit for the festival. In the last panel, the town official says, "And what about, uh, Por-To-Lets?" [referring to portable toilets]. Milo (or one of his friends) responds, "Oh, yeah. Got one of those."

As it turns out, I found the US Festival storyline on gocomics.com (starting on https://www.gocomics.com/bloomcounty/1983/10/19 ). But I didn't see any strips in this storyline about applying for a permit.

Was there some other music festival storyline in Bloom County, or have I misremembered this altogether?

    It's in "Loose Tails."

Lenona: Thanks for the suggestion, but I just found the arc where the Rolling Stones played at the Bloom County Elementary School dance, and there wasn't a strip about applying to the local government for a permit in that one, either. (See https://www.
gocomics.com/bloomcounty/1982/02/22 and the following two weeks' strips.)

OK, NOW I think I found it.

Except the occasion wasn't for a concert.

    It's from January 19th, 1982.

Anyway, after that one (using the tools below the strip), I found all the familiar strips about fraternity members - plus a Sunday strip I'd never seen before.

And the strip just BEFORE Jan. 19th is...the first strip featuring Binkley and Opus! (I think.)

Lenona: Thanks! That's the one I was looking for.
