Eeek, don't leave out Arsene Lupin and Detective
Justin Ganimard.
The first film for Lupin was in 1908 (but I
don't know if Ganimard is in it).

The "gentleman thief" credo apparently involves
the game aspects

but also for the thrill of the act itself..."

Arsene Lupin -- is indeed a pioneering look
into the 1st person POV(psychology) of a Villain. [...]

"The Taking of Pelham 123" (1974) -- The 1st film to focus on
the Villain's psychology?
in the original film, Shaw is just a psychopath with a Brit accent.
in the remake, Travolta is interesting as a character.
is Tilde new? or has been a regular at AUE ?
"The Taking of Pelham 123" (1974)-- when i rewatched this,
i finally saw how W.Matthau (sp?) is an interesting actor.

It's a long time (21 years) since I read 'Arsène Lupin contre Herlock Sholmès' etc., and, if my memory of him is reliable, I much prefer
Raffles - who of course came before Lupin. The first film about Raffles appeared in 1905, the first about Lupin in 1908.
