• Home Shop Aluminum Anodizing - Titanium Wire

From Bob La Londe@21:1/5 to All on Thu Aug 3 19:14:27 2023
I'm in the process of acquiring the bits and material to setup a home
shop anodizing setup.  Lye is cheap at Home Depot for the de-smut bath.  Sulfuric acid is pretty cheap at O'Relly Auto for the anodizing tank.  I
had talked to a salesperson there a few years ago, but I when I checked
their website I discovered they stock it in upto five gallon containers
pretty cheap in at least one of the local stores.  I make distilled
water in the shop that I use with my water soluble cutting fluid.  The
still has a 25 gallon tank so that's no issue.  I've got a hot plate on
the way for the sealing bath along with an affordable "laboratory" DC
power supply.  I'm still deciding on working containers, and if I wind
up doing very much of this I may want to find a better source of
titanium wire.  I guess I could use aluminum wire, but I see most of the
home shop tubers using titanium.  I bought a couple 25ft spools to start
with anyway.  This might be a short lived side project.  It could be all
    I ever need.
