Diane's McCracklin wins the group with Roger's Ridgley taking second to also move into the ELITE EIGHT. My Dominoes fell a point short and Jim's L&C was last.

After an extremely polarizing vote (5 first place, 3 last place) my Dreamboat still Came Home and won the group. Diane's Robins Did it, they came in second to also move into the RLITE EIGHT. No such luck for Mark's Zinger or Rick's own Robins.

I guess Dennis might mean that anything by the Drifters is "safe," but I'll support you on this one since I don't recall ever hearing it, and it's one of the few recent winners that justifies the rationale for the tournament.

Do you remember hearing "Mexican Divorce," the flip? I remember liking them both.

I do. and I love it. According to Bill Millar's book on them it
additionally has the Warwick sisters, Cissy Houston and Doris Troy

Even you and I were not able to help it in the preliminary round of the 1962 Singles Battle, where it was defeated by someone named Jacki Ross. Jacki who?

I believe I nominated it in an Obscurities contest, where it also didn't do well.

    Safe disc?

It did not even make the pop charts. Stalled at #11 on the BB R&B chart.
I guess Dennis might mean that anything by the Drifters is "safe," but I'll
support you on this one since I don't recall ever hearing it, and it's one of
the few recent winners that justifies the rationale for the tournament.
Do you remember hearing "Mexican Divorce," the flip? I remember liking them both.

No, "I Gotta Get Me A Woman" is from 1956, the flip side of "Soldier of Fortune." The flip of "Mexican Divorce" is "When My Little Girl Is Smiling."

I do. and I love it. According to Bill Millar's book on them it
additionally has the Warwick sisters, Cissy Houston and Doris Troy
    singing on it.

My fellow countryman Bill Millar also has a companion volume to his
excellent Drifters tome----a similar treastise on "The Coasters"

A brain fart by me. I thought the nominated song was "When My Little Girl Was Smiling."

FINAL RANKINGS - same as Roger

    1. The Time - Baby Washington - 26
    2. She Don't Want Me No More - Jimmy Reed - 24

    3. Louie, Louie - Richard Berry & Pharaohs - 20 (5-4)

My Baby wins the group to give me 3 items, all winners, in the ELITE EIGHT. Steve's Reed took second to also join the party. My Pharaohs won a 5-4 tie breaker to take third over Diane's Wonders, but both are out anyway.
