I'm sure everyone will have a pretty good idea how I voted already :)

Yes, but let's test your theory about age having something to do with this. There are not that many people as young as me and Dean who were voting back then. If the record won 3 rounds it had to have been getting some support from people older than me.

Myself, I just thought it was a goofy throwaway record. Kind of like

As far as I'm concerned there's nothing cannot be discussed here. It's a small community of people who have pretty much all been around here for like 20+ years by now, and anything goes IMO. Of course the main thing holding us together is 1950s eramusic, but lots of other topics are of interest.
Nobody is forcing anybody to read any threads that they are not interested in.

As far as I'm concerned there's nothing cannot be discussed here. It's a small community of people who have pretty much all been around here for like 20+ years by now, and anything goes IMO. Of course the main thing holding us together is 1950s era
Nobody is forcing anybody to read any threads that they are not interested in.
It won't be a small community after the topics draw external interest and comments. I like it the way it is and don't want to risk drawing foul mouthed trolls. Your suggestion is a dangerous road on which to travel.

Do you think there is an army of people who are regularly checking this group and deciding not to post when they see the topics we have now?
I don't think anybody who doesn't already read this group is stopping here to check topics. Nobody bothers with Usenet any more. It's extremely small potatoes.
You don't have to stop here. You can do a search for any mentions of a chosen topic. I think that was how Peter Stoller found us, doing a search for the Coasters.

Well clearly it's not technically "dead," which to Bard means no longer in service. Bard doesn't understand the slang meaning of "dead," as in a club that used to be packed with 500 people but now only has 16 people sitting at the bar.

Nobody bothers with Usenet any more. It's extremely small potatoes. In answer to the query "Is Usenet Dead," Bard states:
Despite its decline in popularity, Usenet is still a viable platform for online discussion. It is a decentralized system, which means that it is not controlled by any one entity. This makes it a more reliable platform than forums and social media
Usenet is also a more anonymous platform than forums and social media platforms. This can be appealing to users who want to discuss sensitive topics without revealing their identity.
Overall, Usenet is not dead, but it is no longer as popular as it once was. It is a viable platform for online discussion, but it is not as user-friendly or well-moderated as other online discussion platforms.

It's good to know you know what Bard is thinking. Perhaps all Bard inquiries should be directed to you.

By the way there are actually more Usenet posts than ever now as the internet is so big all over the world now, but the total number of posts is miniscule compared to posts in all of the other forums on the net, and much of the increase is just
