In the past Samp always sent in his Hall of Fame analysis as soon as the inductees had been announced so Lew could post it on Digital Dream Door. Lew has not heard from him yet.

I noticed that myself and wonder if something might have happened to Sampson. For all we know, he could be dead!

With every day that passes with no news The fear that he has fallen victim to some dread accident or disease---or even worse that the last possibility mentioned by Dean above has occurred becomes ever more possible or even probable.

I wonder that he doesn't seem to have a partner, relative or friend who can access his web site page to at least give notice of the situation to his many anxious readers and followers

I don't know about anyone else here but I have contingency plans made in case something like this ever befalls me when my partner or step-grandaughter would pass on news either via Nova here or by e-mail to a prominent group member.

I suggested to Lew that if he knows Samp's real first and last names that he Google him and see if there's an obituary or something.

Lew made a post on our private editor's page today. I had asked him if he knew Samp's real first and last name.

    I don't know his name.
and I looked online yesterday at obituaries for East Falmouth, MA.
I didn't see anything that might be him.
    Maybe he's in jail.

Oh, wow! Samp lives in East Falmouth? That's on Cape Cod, not two hours from me. In fact, I was there last September to ride the bike path in Falmouth and Woods Hole.

    Fascinating news, huh?

Of course there's also an "East Falmouth" over here - down in Cornwall to be exact. The one that I guess the early American settlers who came from here named their town after

I was hoping Samp was gonna start the reviews back up for the new year,
    but no. I just checked.

He might have taken a whole year off. See if anything happens when we
get to February. If he's not back then I guess we really have to start
    assuming the worst

Bruce, you're far more optimistic than I would have thought! Now here's

SAMPSON HAS GIVEN UP ON THIS PROJECT. THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER ENTRIES.

End of transmission (beginning of catalytic converter).

Why would he leave the site up with nothing explaining what is
    happening?

Maybe he's waiting for the one year anniversary of when he stopped
rather than the start of a new calendar year.

My guess is that he realized he bit off more than anyone could possibly
chew, and he did the sensible thing and quit.

But since he put so much work into the hundreds of reviews he already
    wrote, he left them up.

It's a shame because I wanted to show him that Fat Man Humphries record
as proof that a R&R record, even one not by Dave Bartholomew, can
    feature a trumpet.

I think he should leave them up, but he's got to add some kind of
explanation as to why it only went through 1952 and then stopped. Even
if it just says "No new reviews are being written at this time."

You don't mean "he's got to," you mean "it would be nice for him to." He doesn't take well to constructive criticism, as you know.

No, I mean "he's got to." If he wants to cut off his nose to spite his
face because he doesn't like how I told him, that's his loss.
