fast coming up to 25,000 comments already

Of course they were great song writers and performers,
but I wonder how much the Beatles' popularity was enhanced by Paul's
freakishly cute and innocent good looks? (John was harshly plain imo,
    but I'm not a female)

In middle-age, like fellow Brit Cliff Richard, Paul looked 10-15 years
younger than his actual age (helped by a temperate climate perhaps
    - I doubt many middle-aged whole-life Californians or Australians look
    10 years younger?)

(for privacy reason I will not post a photo, but I myself also looked
    10-15 years younger when 45+ {true!})

I'm not falling for the hype.
Good video but the music is ultimately boring, boring, boring.

I think it's, good, good, good. It gets a 6. I predict it goes to number one, one, one in the UK and probably here too.

It's beyond pretty cool. It made me cry.

If those images of George (with a beard) are from 1995, then he was only
    52. He died 6 years later, but my God, he looked terrible in those
images. That's not what made me cry, though--it was the whole mix.

I don't know why I never noticed before that they couldn't dance!

Not only could they not dance, but they were very against dancing or moving around in any way on stage the way that James Brown, Mick Jagger, and many later performers did. They just wanted to present the music as close to the records as possible. They
were not at all into improvising or taking elongated solos or any of that shit.

I'm surprised you teared up considering that you usually get annoyed if I bring the Beatles up. I felt tears coming on too.

That's because when you bring them up it's inevitably to tell some
incredibly detailed long boring (to me) story about how their recordings
were made. If you play their music in the car I don't go "Turn that off!"

Many! I enjoyed all their earlier records and a number of later ones.

I wasn't impressed. To my ears, it's the same type of maudlin garbage that McCartney began recording in the 1970s.

As much as I love the Beatles, they broke up 53 years ago and two of them are dead now. It's way past time to move on.

I don't hear that at all. McCartney's bad 70s stuff was mainly the adult contemporary shit like "Let 'em In" and "My Love" and "Silly Love Songs." "Now And Then" sounds more like Beatles circa 1967, although the modern recording techniques are obvious on
    certain aspects of it.

To what? The soul records from the Beatles era that you play every week on your radio show?

The stuff we talk about here that is mostly from BEFORE there was a Beatles?

Nobody around here wants much to move past 1970 when the Beatles broke up.

I would get even more excited if unissued stuff from 70 years ago turned up by one of my favorite 50s acts. I don't want to move on. In fact, I'd per perfectly happy if music had not changed at all since 1958.

Ed Sullivan offers an anachronistic use of the word "cover."
He must have learned it from the same time travelers who also youth-ified him to a third of his 1964 age.
