Bruce said he could post through Google but it would not let him start a conversation. I am testing if that is true for me as well.

It says to shut down any processes from the provider that are still running after the provider is closed. There were lots of processes running, but nothing that was part of chrome.

it might not be your problem, but this can happen even when
using Google Search if you have a VPN turned on

for the record, I am not a robotBy the way, I'm pretty sure that a simple AI could be programmed to click an "I am not a robot" CAPTCHA box. I really don't see what purpose it supposedly has. I wish Marc D. was still hanging out here to explain the benefit.

I had to look up what a VPN was, and I certainly don't have that.
I tried a couple things that came up in searches that are supposed to bypass captcha, but nothing has worked so far.

Have your tried clearing your Chrome browsing data

That was the first thing I tried. Everyone else using Google to post is getting the same thing, but it's working right for them. I tried it with Edge and it's the same problem.
Bruce, from what I've read, if not already you could try logging into
a Google account before accessing Google Groups.

I'm always logged in. That's the only way you can post.

Heh. Yeah, Jivin' Joe Peccadillo.
But you said "sins," and "pecadillo" is Spanish for "little sin." I
don't know where the double c came from.

Bob, are you using Windows to post? If so, which version. Bruce said it doesn't work for him with
Windows 10. I get the same behavior with Windows 11. I don't think Bruce mentioned that the
CAPTCHA shows up on a page of its own, not as part of the posting page. There is no Submit or Send
or Post button there.

Groups.
A small oblong CAPTCHA box does pop up, superimposed and centered on
the posting page, but all I have to do is click on the "I'm not a
Robot" checkbox and then, just below, click on "Continue".
I had geeksonsite working on this problem for 2 hours today and the tech could not figure it out. Now the whole computer is fucked up. I tried to get them to fix whatever is wrong, and for like 8 hours on and off we could not get their software to takecontrol of my computer. Right now it is attempting to restart for like an hour. I think it is downloading Windows updates, which id did earlier already for like 100 minutes.
Update: I tried posting to Google Groups from my laptop. It also runs Windows 10, but I was not able to start a thread or even to reply to
one. I got the same problem Bruce is having, captcha box appearing in
the upper lefthand corner and then stalling after I check the box.
So I think now that this is a Google problem.
If you remember, a while ago (last year, maybe?) no one was able to
start a new thread in Google Groups. We all wrote complaints to Google
which were ignored, until finally they fixed it.
Do you guys agree?

I can post fine through Google on the Windows XP laptop, so it can't just be a straight Google problem.

Yes,I get the CAPCHA thing up every time (in mid-screen) on both sets of posts but when I get Robby here to tick the "I AM NOT A ROBOT" box it all goes through smoothly and all is well
So far...................

Forgot to add using Chrome in Windows 10
Okay, but what I'm saying is that everything is fine when I use my
"regular" (desktop) computer, but when I tried it on my laptop, also
using Windows 10 and Chrome, plugged into the same router, I could not
post.
