On Tuesday, April 30th, Duane Eddy died at the age of 86. We're losing
    the
    original rock 'n' generation fast.

Yes goodbye Duane....he was equally popular on both sides of the Atlantic
with a steady stream of hit
guitar instrumentals stretching from 1958 well into the sixties then re-emerging over here in 1975 with the #9 hit "Play Me Like You Play Your Guitar" and then again in 1986 with the #7 hit with the reworked "Peter
    Gunn" with Art Of Noise

Regarding "Peter Gunn"--I like the original Mancini version but I like
Duane's version even more and it remains to this day one of my vary
favorite of his records along with his debut hit "Rebel-Rouser" and of
course the irresistible classic "40 Miles Of Bad Road"

He appeared live over here for the first time in 1960 touring with Bobby
Darin and Clyde McPhatter and appearing on a TV special with both of them (Duane does "Shazam" and Clyde sings "Think Me A Kiss" and--- then
    unbelievably "Have Mercy Baby")

Since then he appeared over here very regularly (as in 1963 when--while
waiting to go on stage here at an evening Bournemouth concert---the news
    broke of President Kennedy's assassination)

    "The Twang's The Thang"

    R.I.P Duane

From a purely music perspective, if either Duane Eddy or Eddie Cochran
*had* to die in April 1960, I would pick Eddie to survive.
