Who else on planet Earth has Sampson's seemingly unbiased extensive
knowledge of popular music spanning six or more decades (1940s
    onwards).

You should give him a call and feed his ego. Mention my name, but only after you've gotten the conversation going for awhile or he may hang up on you like he did with me this morning.

So you really talked to him?

Did he tell you what the problem was? Has he been ill?

Does he intend to carry on the Lunacy project?

He has not responded to me since he started this project. Not sure what he's mad about, but when I spoke to him he claimed he had never heard of me and hung up. On the second call he did not even say anything. He hung up after I said "Are you taking a
break from the reviews?" "When you gonna start up again."

Seemingly unbiased? Only to you. To me, he's very biased, as evidenced
by his refusal to include country boogie/Western swing records that are
(to me) clear precursors of R&R. He also claims he will not include
blues records, but then he does--*some* blues records, presumably the
    ones he likes.

As for his annual HOF commentaries, they're very slanted towards his
    personal tastes. Do you disagree?

Maybe he doesn't like having a stalker. Leave the man alone, for Christ's sake!

Do you consider it stalking when I email him at his site to tell him about a mistake he made? That's what I have been doing since he started the site. A few times he even corrected the mistake after seeing my email, but he has never replied to an email.

I don't see them as slanted at all, and I don't know what his personal tastes are. The only thing he's slanted against are cult acts who never really accomplished much in the way of widespread popularity. I'm with him on that. Kool and the Gang and
Chicago should have gone in long before shit like the Stooges.

I don't think he discusses *any* precursors of 1947's R&R. In 2017 he
starts off with a review in depth of Roy Brown's break-thru recording
    of "Good Rocking Tonight".

I was mostly impressed with "...spanning six or more decades".
My "seemingly unbiased" was tentative and I was quite prepared
    for someone to disagree.

The fact that you agree with him does not translate into "he's unbiased."

Perhaps, but he certainly has different taste than I do. If there's a bias, it has nothing to do with personal taste. When he was active in Lew's forum he always railed against editors letting their personal taste affect their lists.
