Dean, I guess you didn't see my other post. Now that graduations are
over, will you be reviving "Roots Rock Radio?"

    WHY are you top posting?

Just delete everything under it if your post is not about this
countdown. Which by the way, holds no interest for me. I listen to the
Soul countdowns to hear the odd stuff that I may not know. A Top 40 Pop
chart countdown is just 40 songs that I already know.

    Thanks for sharing.

For some, a problem with many radio broadcasts is that you can't
efficiently isolate (cherry pick) individual songs to listen to.
In a manner of speaking, you're forced to listen to "Jailhouse Rock"
etc for the 1000th time, and so a busy fan of the genre(s) being
played *might* decide not to listen to the broadcast at all (if it
mostly comprises songs that are well-known to them).

Sometimes I like to hear familiar sounds. That's why I like "Roots Rock
Radio" so much. And I know Dean isn't going to play "Skinny Minnie
    Fishtail."

It can depend, I think, on the listening scenario.

If one is engaged in another activity at the same time (such as
jogging, driving, or domestic tasks) then familiar *liked* sounds
    might well be enjoyed.

On the other hand, if you are primarily focused on the music being
played, then overly familiar sounds might be perceived as a bit
tiresome - you feel, even as a retired senior citizen, that you have
better ways to spend this time, like seeking out lesser known music.
