    Same time as the Kingsmen, yes, but it did not even crack the top 100 on Billboard. It got to #103 on their Bubbling Under chart in Nov 1963.

    Never released as a single here in UK

    WE got "Like Long Hair" in 1961 then the first Columbia (CBS here)
    single here was "Steppin' Out" in 1965

    Personally I'm with Diane on this one---it's pretty dreadful and not a
    patch on the Kingsmen version that got mucho airplay here and made the
    Top 20

    OT I've watched all four episodes of the recent STAX documentary
    and it was CBS that largely destroyed STAX in the mid 70s by not
    distributing their records to stores as they were supposed to -
    episode 4 is so depressing that I've deleted it.
