{With} my Free Agent I could look back to the late 1990's thru all my
old newsgroup posts in date order.
Presumably this date order list had all member posts, not just yours. Thunderbird, used by DianeE, Steve..., offers a similar quick and
easy lookup format. Agent and Thunderbird can also list, in date
order, all posts *by poster* (includes responses by the poster).
I can still access them (no not quite so easily)---via Google Groups
"not so easily" - you can say that again. In Google Groups it seems
you can only look at 30 topic/thread/subject headers at a time -
there are 51104 subjects for this 1950s newsgroup. In Agent and
Thunderbird it's just one long scrollable list.
Keep in mind that Google Groups has no posts dated after Feb 22, 2024.
Ongoing NovaBBS keeps posts for two years.
In addition, there are other public Usenet archives out there.
A post might not be archived if the poster used "x-no-archive".
OK first off go to
https://groups.google.com/g/rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1950s
You want the "Conversations" box at the very top (but you may need to
input personal {Google account} details to access)
{after clicking Conversations right-hand small down-arrow}
You then just fill in the name of the poster,the post title and a few
words of the subject matter of the material you want---and then you
should get a host of posts come up hopefully including the one(s) you're >looking for. {and optionally you can enter from-to dates}
As you will discover, you don't need to fill in all search fields; for
instance you can just enter part of a Subject (thread/topic header)
or just enter part of the contents of a post. But note, if you enter a
"Posted by" name it has to be in full, for instance "Diane" will not
find posts by "DianeE".
And it reaches back an awful lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way in finding posts
It reaches back to the very beginning of a newsgroup's existence.
(in 2001, Google acquired Deja News and its Usenet archive along with
a number of other archives dating back to 1981)
