    Yes, but not foolproof.

By the way, the display format of NovaBBS sucks big time.

For goodness sake, you guys should invest in Thunderbird, or even
    better, Agent.

We try to avoid spam, but nothing is perfect.

novabbs uses news.i2pn2.org as it's backend. I'm the admin of both. If
    you look here: https://www.novabbs.com/SEARCH/search_nocem.php?stats=daily&msgid=

and scroll to the bottom, you can see just how many spam messages were
blocked by day when Google Groups was still alive. 80,000 - 100,000 per
    day for a while.

If you look at the NoCeMs produced by i2pn2-nocem@i2pn2.org, those are
mine, and it shows how many messages were flagged per day by my filters.
I was not the only one doing so, you can see others on that page. My
    filters are still in effect.

Btw, NoCeM is a message sent between news servers to list messages that
should be removed, if the receiving admin wishes to honor them.

The point is that I take spam seriously, but I'm just one (kinda dumb)
guy, so no guarantees, I just try my best.

It works fine most of the time.

Thanks Retro Guy, good job as usual.

    Thanks Will.

This group has just been added to the list of groups blocking certain crossposting.

I was not aware of the current crossposter until just now.

We assume you are in NovaBBS, Dean (you seem to be according to
    Agent).

If one right-clicks on <poster name> in subject line a Windows menu
pops up (with open link etc). If one left-clicks on <poster name> a
    new Nova page displays, with:

    arts / search
    Searching arts
    Search Poster: <poster name>
    Body Subject Poster Message-ID
    [Search button]

there does not appear to be an option to block <poster name>

please, what am I(/we?) doing wrong?

using a smartphone/cellphone, touching poster's name in Nova is
    equivalent to left-clicking (see above)

The 'hide poster' option will only appear if you are logged in. That's
how it's supposed to work anyway. Do you see your username in the upper
right corner? If you see 'login' instead, you are not logged in.

Many thanks, Retro. I should have guessed or known that this 'hide
poster' option would only work if the user is logged in.
